The 2025 Winter Sale Steam event is expected to start on December 18 at 6:00 P.M. (18:00) UTC and last until January 5, according to Valve. It will begin shortly before Christmas, providing the perfect opportunity to purchase gifts for friends and family members, and, of course, to treat yourself to a few titles from your Steam Wishlist!

What should we expect?
Along with the Summer Sale, the Winter Sale is one of the biggest events on Steam. We can safely expect a new winter-themed event featuring badges, cards, and emoticons. These items can be obtained by visiting the store page, watching the «Discovery Queue», or purchasing items from the store.
Once the Winter Sale begins, thousands of games, ranging from simple indie games to AAA titles, will go on sale on the Steam Store. While we can only speculate about the exact titles that will be discounted, previous Winter Sales have shown that major publishers such as Ubisoft, Activision, Electronic Arts, and Take-Two Interactive have offered discounts on the Steam Store and will likely participate in the 2025 Winter Sale.
We suggest checking SteamDB to see if a particular title is likely to go on sale during the Winter Sale. There, you can view the price history graph to see if the game was on sale during previous Winter Sales, such as Winter Sale 2024 and 2023. If it was, chances are the publisher will put the title on sale during the next Winter Sale event.
